Alter Your Clothes with Lauren of Sew Mojo

Your clothes should fit your body, not the other way around! In this workshop, we’ll focus on altering clothing for better fit. We’ll cover how to adjust seams, hemlines, and silhouette to enhance your comfort and style. Bring in a garment or two to work on. Students must already know how to use a domestic sewing machine and/or have taken our “Intro to Sewing” class.

Ages 16 and up. 

What you'll need:

All students receive a 10% discount on supplies for class. 

• 1 small spool of Gutermann thread
• Fabric scissors
• Pins
• Marking pen or chalk
• Your garment(s) you'd like to adjust

Students are welcome to use our sewing machines & irons/ironing boards. If you'd like to bring your own machine, please let us know prior to class. 

About our guest instructor: Lauren Fonville is the founder of Sew Mojo, a mobile sewing school based in Los Angeles that specializes in fashion and costume-design education. With over 15 years of experience as a seamstress, patternmaker, and custom-made costumer, Lauren has contributed to films and television series such as "Hacks," "Shazam! Fury of the Gods," "The Suicide Squad," "Mandalorian," and "Deadwood."

A proud member of Motion Picture Costumers, IATSE Local 705, Lauren offers bespoke garment-making, alteration services and custom quilts alongside her role at Sew Mojo. She is thrilled to bring her sold-out classes to the DC-area in summer 2025.
