Three Little Birds Sewing Co.
Jean Making --- Intermediate Garment Workshop for Men & Women
Making jeans sounds more intimidating than it really is. Whether it's your very first pair or you just want to refine the fit on your jeans, this class promises to be lots of fun!
There are a variety of patterns available to choose from: Ginger Jeans or Morgan Jeans by Closet Case Patterns, Ames Jeans by Cashmerette, Dawn Jeans by Megan Nielsen, or Jedidah Pants by Thread Theory.
- Four 3-hour sessions with instructors*
- Use of sewing machines & tools
- Additional studio time, if needed
What you'll need:
- Sewing pattern (Ginger Jean, Morgan Jeans, or Jedediah)
- Swedish Tracing paper
- 2.5-3 yards of denim-- please note that the Ginger Jeans calls for stretch denim
- Coordinating thread
- Topstitching thread
- Denim needles
- 5"-7" metal jean zipper
- Jean hardware
This is a tentative schedule for the four week session. Please note that you may need to complete "homework" on your own between classes, depending on how much you accomplish during class.
The first session will focus mostly on taking measurements and cutting out the pattern from your fabric. If time allows, we will begin basting our jeans together.
The second session students will finish basting together their jeans, if not finished. We will mainly focus on fitting this session.
The third & fourth sessions are for sewing, installing zippers, & hardware.
