Intro to Quilting (VIRTUAL) --- Learn to Quilt from Start to Finish
Learn how to make your first quilt or hone your skills in this Intro to Quilt Series. Students will use the Double Star Pattern by Fancy Tiger Crafts to make a baby/throw sizes quilted (54" square). Class covers cutting, following a pattern, piecing together a top, basting, quilting, and applying binding. This class is appropriate for students who feel comfortable on their own sewing machine and can follow a seam allowance.
This class will meet virtually via Zoom. Each cla
ss will be recorded and provided to students to watch for 30 days after class. Students should expect to do some sewing outside of class time in order to stay on track.
Dates: Saturdays 10am-12pm (January 9th, 23rd, February 6th, and February 20th)
Below is a rough schedule of the class week by week.
Week 1: Fabric selection, cutting, and how to piece together fabrics
Week 2: Continue sewing the top of the quilt
Week 3: How to make a quilt sandwich, basting, & quilt techniques
Week 4: Finish quilting and how to bind a quilt

For a Throw Sized Quilt:
Double Star Quilt Pattern by Fancy Tiger Crafts
- 4 Dark Colored Fat Quarters for Star
- 11 -1/2 yard cuts of Light Colored Fabric for background
- Binding – 1/2 yd.
- Backing – 2 3/4 yds.
- Coordinating thread * (Students may want to use a different weight thread for the actual quilting -- we will discuss in the first class)
- Throw sized batting
- Curved basting pins
